time to start, right at the beginning.

guidelines.

never been the kinda guy to stay inside the guidelines. i know i'm the bad guy, i don't gotta ask why.

ooc. I’m here to roleplay and explore the character of Jinwoo Haneul. Please note that I’m not looking for any out-of-character (OOC) relationships or personal connections beyond the scope of our roleplay. Let’s keep things focused on the creative and in-character interactions. Thank you!

activity. Please note that Jinwoo Haneul is an alt character, so I may be on him less frequently unless asked for specific roleplay or needed at a venue. I am also a full-time student, so my availability may vary. Thank you for understanding!

interactions & plotting. I am always open to plotting and happy to get DMs about it. Just a heads up, Jinwoo Haneul is an asshole of a character, he is mean and he will push boundaries. I will check in to make sure things stay comfortable, but if he ever crosses a line please tell me right away. The goal is for everyone to have fun while still keeping limits respected.

formatting. I tend to write a lot and can take a bit of time to respond, but please don’t let that intimidate you! I have a higher level of RP experience, but I’m more than happy to work with any skill level. I write in past tense, third person, so if that’s something you’re cool with, we’ll get along great!

mains. Jinwoo is an alt character but my main RP OC, so content and interactions may be less frequent unless we make plans. While I’ll do my best to respect the needs of others and engage when I can, please understand that I can’t always be available. I appreciate your patience and understanding!

shipping. While I’m open to exploring relationships in-character, please note that shipping Jinwoo is something I prefer to take slowly and only when it feels natural within the RP. I’m not interested in rushing or forcing any connections, and I’d like to make sure everything is built on solid, organic interactions. Let’s take it one step at a time and see where things go!

disclaimers. Jinwoo Haneul is a messy character with a dark past. He is reckless, detached, and drawn to chaos, often pushing limits just to see how far things can go. His words and actions can come off harsh, abrasive, or even cruel, but that is part of who he is in character, not who I am outside of it. If anything feels uncomfortable or crosses a line, please let me know right away so we can fix it.

credits. Jinwoo Haneul is my own original character. Everything tied to him, from his story to his personality and design, comes from me. While I take inspiration from different places, the way he is built and developed is mine alone. Please do not use or claim any part of him without asking first. Thank you for respecting that.

personality.     Jinwoo Haneul is the kind of person who lives on the edge. He is always chasing the next thrill, the next rush, anything that makes him feel alive for even a moment. He does not care about rules or boundaries, he just wants to see how far he can push before everything comes crashing down. On the outside he is cocky, brash, and confident, like he has it all figured out. Underneath all that bravado though, there is someone who is trying to outrun the ghosts of his past, someone who hides the fact that he is completely lost. His glares cut deep and his actions are reckless, but it is all just a mask, a way to keep people from getting too close.
At his core, Jinwoo does not really know how to connect with anyone. He keeps people at a distance and treats relationships like temporary distractions, nothing more than a quick escape. He avoids feeling too much because the last time he did, it cost him almost everything. Trust does not come easy to him, and being vulnerable is something he has locked away behind walls of sarcasm and sharp edges. He would rather numb the pain with anything that makes him forget, anything that fills the emptiness inside that feels too wide to ever close.
Even though he tries to shut the world out, there is still a part of him that wants to protect the few people he does care about, even if he is too stubborn to admit it. His loyalty shows in strange and broken ways, but it is still there. He is not a hero and he is not waiting to be saved. He is resourceful, resilient, and knows how to survive no matter how much life tries to break him. Deep down, Jinwoo is always searching for something to fill the emptiness, whether it is chaos or the next high, but he will never admit that what he really wants is something more.

headcanon one. Jinwoo collects broken things. He does not keep them for sentimental reasons but because he feels a pull toward damaged, discarded objects, things like cracked mirrors and rusted tools that echo his own sense of being thrown away.headcanon two. He is awful at cooking. Jinwoo’s idea of making food is tossing random ingredients together and hoping for the best. It always turns into something burnt, but he never cares enough to do better. Fast food is what he usually ends up with.headcanon three. He prefers silence. Even with all the chaos he stirs up, Jinwoo craves stretches of pure quiet. Those are the rare moments when he feels at peace, away from the noise of the world and the noise inside his head.headcanon four. He sleeps in a warehouse basement. Jinwoo crashes in a filthy, cluttered space piled with old pizza boxes and tossed bandages. It is a disaster, but it is his disaster, hidden away from everyone else.headcanon five. He owns a journal he never writes in. Jinwoo picked up a leather-bound journal in one of those rare times he thought about trying to face himself, but the pages stay blank. They sit there like a mirror of the silence he refuses to break.

origin.

Jinwoo Haneul’s story starts in Solution Nine, where his parents were simple crafters. They weren’t great, but they made enough by putting together small trinkets and tools for people who could afford them. When the city shifted to aetheric machines, their work got pushed aside. Automated systems built faster and cheaper, and before long his parents were left behind. They grew bitter and hollow until sickness caught them and they passed, with no one left willing to keep them alive. With nothing left, Jinwoo had to figure out survival on his own. The system was rigged and he learned quick that if he wanted to last, he had to make choices most people would never dare. That desperation dragged him into the Arcadion arena, a brutal pit where blood was currency and survival was a spectacle. What started as a way to clear his parents’ debts became his whole life.He fought in the heavyweight bracket, where there was no glamour. No flashy tricks or staged drama. Just raw violence that pushed fighters until they broke. It was there he learned about feral souls, fragments of the dead that could be taken in for more power. At first, the talk of psychonekrosis was nothing but a rumor. A made-up story to scare rookies. But then fighters started retiring without a word. Others just disappeared. Men who had once ruled the brackets vanished overnight, leaving whispers behind. The disease was real, and those who didn’t want to lose themselves got out before it was too late.Jinwoo ignored it in the beginning, like he ignored most warnings. He chased the rush, the blood, the crowd, and built himself into one of the arena’s rising stars. His death-soaked look and savage style earned him the name “Gravebound.” For a while, it felt like he could carve a path to the top, maybe even escape the life that had trapped him.But when legends began to fall and psychonekrotic husks started to appear, even he could not look away. The fear clawed at him, the thought of burning himself into nothing the way his parents had wasted away. He knew he would rather walk than let the Arcadion eat him alive. When he finally left, he tore off his Regulator. It had never protected him, only kept him under the city’s watch, tracking every drop of life and aether he spent. Jinwoo didn’t want their eyes on him anymore. He didn’t want to know how much of his soul he had already lost.

present.

Jinwoo’s life has blurred into one hazy night after another. He wakes in beds that are not his, sheets tangled around him, courtesans long gone before his eyes even open. Faces bleed together the way the flashing lights and pounding bass do at the clubs. It is all the same, chaos and noise to drown out the emptiness chewing through him. When the crowds fade and the music dies, he stumbles back to his warehouse basement. It reeks of stale smoke and rot, littered with old pizza boxes, tossed clothes, and broken scraps he can’t seem to throw away. It is shelter, but it is not home. It feels like him, wrecked and discarded. The disease never claimed him, but its shadow never left. He sees husks in the dark, psychonekrotic shells of fighters who burned themselves hollow, and wonders when his turn will come. Forgotten, broken, another ghost roaming the ruins. No drug, no drink, no fleeting body against his own can wash that fear away. Pills blur the memories, powders choke out the silence, but they never silence his parents’ vacant eyes. He imagines the blood he never saw, feels the loss he never escaped. He drowns himself in oblivion, and it is never enough. In the rare moments when the haze lifts, the darkness is still there. He feels it pulling, the same way it did in the arena. Without the Regulator, he has no idea how much of his soul has burned already, and maybe he does not want to know. It is easier not to. It is a gamble, and some nights he almost hopes he loses.

main verse.

arcadion survivor

Jinwoo Haneul grew up in Solution Nine, the son of crafters who were crushed by a city obsessed with machines and aether. When his parents died, he was left to survive alone, and the Arcadion arena became his only way out. He fought in the heavyweight brackets, building a name on blood, chaos, and the nickname “Gravebound.” For a while he lived off the rush, but when psychonekrosis started swallowing fighters whole, he left before it could take him too.Now he haunts the underbelly of the city, hiding in a filthy warehouse basement, numbing himself with drugs, alcohol, and chaos. He tells himself he is done fighting, but the pull of the arena still gnaws at him. Without his Regulator, he has no idea how much of his soul is left.

  • verse-specific headcanons: His Regulator being removed means no one tracks his aetheric state. He might already be breaking down, but he does not want to know.

  • bonds: open for plotting, connections from the arena, underworld contacts, or anyone who stumbles into his haze.

verse two.

feral drift

In this take, Jinwoo never retired. Instead, he kept fighting until psychonekrosis started creeping in. His body still works, but pieces of his soul are fractured, leaving him half feral and half human. He moves like a ghost through Solution Nine, slipping between fights and jobs, never settling, never fully in control. This verse is darker and heavier, with Jinwoo leaning harder into chaos and self destruction. His paranoia is worse, and the line between who he is and what the feral souls are turning him into has started to blur.

  • verse specific headcanons: He sometimes blacks out in fights and wakes up not remembering what he did. His eyes flicker red when he is pushed too far.

  • bonds: open, other fighters, those who hunt husks, or anyone who wants to test how far he has already fallen.

bite the bullet, suit & tie, the silver linin', i'ma show you how to crash a party. every time you pop off, they hopin' that you fall hard. they prayin' for the death of a rockstar.

ooh, they love it when you lost, boy. now the low life at the top floor, everybody hatin' ever since you got more. they prayin' for the death of a rockstar.

  • arcadion survivor. | arcadion.verse | Jinwoo walked away from the arena before psychonekrosis could take him, but the fights never left his blood. He carries the weight of every battle, every soul lost, and hides it in the dark corners of Solution Nine. He is haunted, reckless, and stubbornly alive, but never certain for how long.

  • the baker’s shadow. | shadow.verse | Jinwoo now stays under the roof of a baker who once ruled the arena, a man he never managed to beat. He does not know if he is trapped or protected, and he is not sure if he wants to leave. Living in that shadow cuts at him, yet it gives him a place to return to when the nights burn out.

  • slow withdrawal. | withdrawal.verse | The drugs were once his escape, now they are his prison. Jinwoo has started fighting against the grip they hold on him, but every day feels like a war. Some nights he wins, some nights he loses, and most nights he is left shaking in the middle, wondering if it will ever end.

  • ghost of the clubs. | clubs.verse | The chaos of neon lights and pounding bass keeps him distracted. He drifts through clubs and crowded nights, chasing the blur of faces he will never remember. Every bed, every drink, every stranger is just another way to keep the silence from catching him.

  • stray connections. | stray.verse | Jinwoo keeps meeting new people, but he never knows if they will stay. He holds back, keeps walls up, because loss is something he has learned too well. Still, a part of him wonders if one of these strangers might be different, even if he will never admit it out loud.

  • hunted debt. | debt.verse | Jinwoo owes more than he can ever pay back, and the loan sharks know it. They stalk him through Solution Nine, waiting for the day his luck runs out. Every deal, every fight, every night out is haunted by the weight of debt pressing closer. Survival is not just about fighting now, it is about staying one step ahead of the people who want to break him.

  • wandering exile. | exile.verse | After leaving the Arcadion, Jinwoo drifts from place to place. He does not settle, never staying long enough to put down roots. He moves like a shadow through the streets of Solution Nine, living on scraps, old grudges, and the thrill of not being found.

  • underworld dealings. | underworld.verse | Jinwoo leans into his network of shady contacts, trading favors, secrets, and whatever scraps of influence he can pull together. Drugs, weapons, information, nothing is too dirty for him to touch if it means survival. In the city’s shadows, his name still carries weight, for better or worse.
